LEAD POISONING

Lead is a highly toxic metal, which causes a range of health effects, from behavioral problems and learning disabilities, to seizures and death. Both adults and children can suffer from the effects of lead poisoning, but children under 6 years are most vulnerable to it.

The primary sources of lead poisoning for most children are deteriorating lead-based paint, lead contaminated dust, and lead contaminated residential soil, air, drinking water, food, ceramics, home remedies, hair dyes and other cosmetics. Lead poisoning can also be caused from expired can-food. Most of the lead poison is of microscopic size and is invisible to the naked eye. However currently, the biggest source of concern of lead poisoning is found in older houses, which have lead based paint.

Lead paint, which is in proper condition, does not pose an immediate danger but lead paint that has deteriorated creates lead poisoning. It contaminates household dust as well as bare soil around the house, where children often play. For that matter, children are easily poisoned. A hand-to-mouth activity, a normal activity of young children is enough to get lead poisoning. If your child or your family member has been exposed to lead-based products such as chipping lead paint, or you have experienced lead poisoning symptoms, you may be eligible to file a claim. At Mayer B. Gordon & Associates, we have a team of attorneys who will fight from your corner and ensure that you are fairly treated.

When you buy an old house, the law requires it be a civic duty of the seller to inform the buyer if the house contains lead based paint. Failing to provide such information prior to the purchase could mean a severe health hazard to the buyer. Similarly, it is illegal to sell expired can food. Therefore, the buyer can sue the seller for the compensation and for not providing all the necessary information. If you have been a victim of lead poisoning through a detoured paint or expired can food and need to get justice and compensation, do give our Mayer B. Gordon & Associates attorneys a call. We will try our best to give justice and the proper compensation.
